ART OF ITS OWN MAKINGJuly 07, 2014 ![]() The Lye Foundation has installed an array of small wind wands on the rooftop of the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts Museum in St Louis, Missouri. Wind Wands are part of the exhibition Art of its Own Making, curated by Gretchen Wagner and including works by Athanasios Argianas, Tony Conrad, Edith Dekyndt, Agnes Denes, Hans Haacke, Sam Lewitt, Robert Morris, Nam June Paik, Keith Tyson, Meg Webster, and collaborative artists Melissa Dubbin and Aaron S. Davidson. New Plymouth engineer Stuart Robb who worked on the re-construction of the 30 foot Wind Wands braved artic temperatures to install the works on top of the splendid Tadao Ando-designed building. Len Lye first installed Wind Wands in 1961 in several places in New York and at the Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. The original wands are safely stored in the Len Lye Archive in New Plymouth. The Pulitzer exhibition runs from 13 February to 23 August 2014. |
