VISIT BY TINGUELY MUSEUM CURATOR

An October highlight was a visit to New Zealand by Dr Andres Pardey, an art historian and curator at the Museum Tinguely in Basel.

Among those who met Andres were Evan Webb and Roger Horrocks of the Lye Foundation. Lye knew Tinguely as a fellow kinetic sculptor and greatly admired his work. Andres visited the Len Lye Centre in New Plymouth and was very interested to see the collection.

In Christchurch, Andres saw the current Lye exhibition and also met Dr Shayne Gooch who told him about the Lye research activities at the  Canterbury University’s Engineering School.

There was general agreement that there many common interests between the Museum Tinguely, the Foundation, and the Len Lye Centre, and future exhibitions should be a mutual goal.
