Fountain III, 1976

Fountain III, 1976, stainless steel rods, motor, Formica base, 5 x 5 x 5 metres.  A cluster of metal rods rotate in a base creating the illusion of a jet of water.  Lye made several sizes of this work and left drawings and plans for one 300 feet high.

“[Fountain] is a polarity to the wild stuff.  It’s so euphoric and lazy” – Len Lye
