Ribbon Snake (Convolutions), 1965, plastic strip, motor, metal armature, 240 x 350 x 28 cm.  Ribbon Snake is one of several kinetic sculptures Lye designed that incorporate loops of steel or plastic strip that slowly wind and unwind under the tension of rollers to form bulges and curves that resemble large changing, organic shapes.
